The YAWA Mission
Everything that exists in this world comes from stories that we have collectively consented to and by extension we have accepted as truth, as what we must adhere to, no matter the other histories screaming out for attention, begging to be seen, heard and told. To change things, the important work is telling new stories and getting people to believe those new stories, those new narratives, those new ideas of how we can be and live.
Through YAWA Magazine – based in Toronto, YAWA is curating stories of creative Africans living and creating just around the corner from you.
The YAWA Audience
When we talk about “our audience” who do we mean? We mean every and anyone interested in learning about the wonderful stories and talent of creative Africans living and creating just around the corner from you. Here in Toronto we have an incredible depth of filmmakers, sculptors, stand up comedians, painters, fashion stylists…podcasters, all bursting at the seams with stories to tell and someplace to highlight them. That’s why we do this, that’s why YAWA exists.
